This resort sits at 1,920m on the Melchsee-Frutt plateau, accessible only by cable car from Stöckalp. The setup is smart – two buildings connected by tunnel: the Mountain Lodge (adults-focused, with a proper spa) and the Family Lodge (kids' facilities, family pools, entertainment). I stayed on the Mountain Lodge side and loved the peace, but families clearly have everything sorted on their side.
The location makes this place. Winter is ski-in/ski-out, summer brings hiking straight from the door and swimming in the mountain lake. The whole plateau is car-free, which adds to the escape feeling. Three restaurants between both buildings, all accessible to guests regardless of where you stay. The spa on the Mountain Lodge side is excellent – indoor/outdoor pools with mountain views, proper saunas, the full setup.
Worth it both seasons, though I slightly prefer summer when you can actually sit outside and take in those Alpine views without freezing. Book the Mountain Lodge side if you want quiet, Family Lodge if you're with kids – though honestly, the tunnel means you can use everything anyway.
