There are so many things to do in Balboa park from food, to museums, to gorgeous flowers. You could spend all day here and still not cover it all.

Covering 1,200 acres, Balboa Park is home to some of the best cheap things to do in San Diego. Put on your walking shoes to explore the lush park and its slate of 17 exceptional museums and the San Diego Zoo, before stumbling upon the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. Featuring one of the largest outdoor pipe organs on earth, the pavilion puts on a fun-free show every Sunday at 2 pm.

Here's a description of what you can expect when visiting Balboa Park:

History and Culture: Balboa Park was established in 1868, making it one of the oldest public parks in the United States. It is home to over 16 museums, cultural institutions, and performing arts venues. The park was also the site of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, which introduced Spanish Colonial Revival architecture to San Diego.

Attractions: The park has many attractions that can appeal to a variety of interests, including art galleries, botanical gardens, and historic buildings. The San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Natural History Museum, and the San Diego Museum of Man are all located in Balboa Park. The park also houses the Old Globe Theatre, which hosts year-round theatrical productions. The park's gardens are also a popular attraction, with the Botanical Building and the Japanese Friendship Garden being among the most popular.

Recreation: Balboa Park has plenty of recreational opportunities for visitors. The park has many walking paths, picnic areas, and public restrooms. Visitors can rent bicycles, surreys, and other vehicles to explore the park. There are also many outdoor spaces that are perfect for families with children, such as the carousel and the playgrounds.

Food and Drink: Balboa Park has several dining options, ranging from casual cafes to formal restaurants. The Prado, located in the House of Hospitality, is one of the most popular restaurants in the park. There are also many food trucks located throughout the park.

Events: Balboa Park hosts many events throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, and cultural celebrations.

Overall, Balboa Park is a beautiful and culturally rich destination that offers something for everyone. With its museums, gardens, and attractions, it is a must-see destination for visitors to San Diego.
