The Kariye Mosque, located in Istanbul, Turkey, was originally a church built in the 4th century and later converted into a mosque in the 16th century. Known for its stunning Byzantine mosaics and frescoes, the building became a museum in 1945 but was recently reconverted back into a mosque in 2020. Despite controversy surrounding the conversion, the mosque continues to attract visitors with its rich history and intricate artwork.
