The Chiesa di San Michele in Foro is a charming church in the heart of Lucca, Tuscany. It was built over an ancient Roman forum and dates back to at least 795 AD, but it has undergone several renovations since then. This breathtaking building is dotted with sculptures and inlays of remarkable craftsmanship, and its facade is highlighted by a giant 4 m-tall statue of St. Michael the Archangel flanked by two smaller angels. Inside, one can find dedications to the Virgin Mary and St. Michael, along with pieces of art such as terracottas by Luca della Robbia and panels by Filippino Lippi. With its impressive architecture and history, visiting the Chiesa di San Michele in Foro offers a delightful experience that will stay with travelers long after they depart!
