Wānaka has it all! A stunning lakefront, snow-capped mountains, and a relaxed vibe that makes it perfect year-round. In summer, the lake is buzzing with swimmers, paddleboarders, and kayakers, while winter turns the town into a base for nearby ski fields like Treble Cone and Cardrona. The town itself has plenty of cafés, bars, and shops, but the real draw is the scenery and the outdoor adventures waiting just outside your door. And of course, no visit is complete without seeing the famous lone Wānaka tree growing out of the lake - one of the most photographed spots in New Zealand. 🌳📸

Quick Tips:

  • Best for outdoor lovers - hiking, biking, skiing, or just chilling by the lake. 🚴‍♂️⛷️

  • AMAZING pubs and cafes along the front 👌🏻

  • Popular walks: Roy’s Peak (famous Instagram view) and Mt Iron (shorter, easier). 🥾

  • The lone tree is busiest at sunrise and sunset - go early if you want it quiet. 🌅

  • Summer gets hot, but the lake is perfect for swimming. 🏊‍♀️

  • Book ahead in peak season (Christmas & ski season) - accommodation fills fast. 🏠
