Often called New Zealand’s most beautiful lake, Lake Manapouri is a serene gem tucked away in Fiordland. Surrounded by lush native forest and framed by the towering peaks of the Cathedral Mountains, it feels untouched and peaceful compared to the busier nearby lakes. The deep, clear waters stretch across scattered islands, making it a photographer’s dream. It’s also the gateway to Doubtful Sound, boat trips across the lake lead to one of Fiordland’s most remote and magical destinations. Whether you’re here for a quiet picnic, a paddle, or simply to soak in the stillness, Manapouri is a place that lingers with you long after you leave.
