Just a 15 minute drive from Queenstown, Bob’s Cove is one of the most peaceful spots on Lake Wakatipu. A short, easy walking track winds through native bush before opening up to a sheltered bay with crystal-clear turquoise water and incredible mountain views. The water is freezing year-round, but it’s a popular summer swim spot thanks to its calm, shallow edge. It’s also one of the best places near Queenstown for a quiet picnic, a quick dip, or a sunrise/sunset photo stop away from the crowds.

Quick Tips

  • 🥾 The Bob’s Cove Track is an easy 20-minute walk from the carpark.

  • 🌊 Great for a cold but refreshing swim in summer.

  • 🍃 Pack a picnic, it’s a calm alternative to busy Queenstown!

  • 🦆 Look out for native birds and crystal-clear shallows perfect for photos.

  • 👌🏻 Jump of the Jetty!
