Riverside Market in Christchurch is hands down one of the best markets I’ve ever been to. It’s a permanent, seven-days-a-week market with an incredible atmosphere and a seriously impressive range of food. We sampled the chicken ramen, vegan dumplings from MO-MO, a refreshing beetroot juice from Bobby’s Fruit Juices, and a mango cardamom custard pastry from The Great Pastry Co. all absolute standouts.
Located at the corner of Lichfield Street and Oxford Terrace, this vibrant indoor market opened in 2019 and has quickly become a local favourite. It’s home to over 100 small businesses, including butchers, bakers, fishmongers, and specialty food stalls, alongside boutique retailers. Notable spots include Bellbird Bakery, Black Burger, Charing Cross Cheesery, and even Ben & Jerry's for those with a sweet tooth.
With the added charm of the adjacent Riverside Lanes, packed with even more unique shops and eateries, this market truly captures the spirit of Christchurch's thriving food scene.
