Zpráva od Where The Kids Roam

Okawachiyama Village is one of our biggest "one that got away" regrets.

This isn't just any pottery town - we're talking about the "Village of Secret Kilns" where they made such prestigious ceramics for the Imperial Court that they had to keep their techniques under wraps. The whole setup sounds incredible - a hidden village with steep streets, ancient kilns with towering brick chimneys, and pottery workshops where the same techniques have been passed down for centuries.

From 1675 to 1871, this was the Nabeshima family's private pottery powerhouse, crafting pieces exclusively for Japan's elite. The fact that they built it in such tricky terrain just adds to the mystique - like they really wanted to keep those pottery secrets safe!

If you make it here (unlike us!), apparently you can try your hand at pottery-making in a village that's been doing it for over 300 years. Just... maybe send my me some pictures? Still not over missing it!
