Zpráva od Aurélie Bouti

Jabal Ikmah, located five kilometers north of Al-Ula, is a mountain filled with thousands of ancient inscriptions carved into the cliffs along one of its crevasses. The variety of writings and imagery captures the intricate details of the region’s tumultuous history for over 2,000 years, truly embodying it's nickname as the 'open library'. Languages have been deciphered including Aramaic, Dadanitic, Safaitic, Thamudic, Minaic and Nabataean. These inscriptions offer insights into religious rituals, commercial transactions, transcriptions of local laws and geographical names. In addition to words, carvings also feature drawings of human figures, animals, tools and everyday items. As you enter Jabal Ikmah, prepare to be marveled by time!
