The Temple of Poseidon is tucked away just outside Pigadia. It's an ancient Greek temple dedicated to the god of the sea, Poseidon. It seems that in ancient times, people used the cave for religious purposes, possibly as a place for sacrifices or worship. They've discovered graves and a carved shrine inside. The shrine was made to honour either Poseidon, the god of the sea, or Aphrodite, the goddess of love. They think Aphrodite might be linked because archaeologists found statues of her nearby. If you explore the cave, keep an eye out for shell fossils, suggesting that there was once seawater inside.
