The Menetes War Memorial, also known as the October 5 Monument, stands proudly on a hill near Menetes village in Karpathos. This monument honours the heroes of World War II and the brave residents of Karpathos who fought against Italian invaders. In 1944, the inhabitants of Karpathos expelled the Italians and were free again. The statue of a Greek soldier symbolizes the island's liberation and offers stunning panoramic views of the area. It's a must-visit spot if you're passing Menetes.
There are quite a few steps, but the view is fantastic! Be careful when it is windy though!
