Neo-Gothic church in Hankasalmi

Prohlídka památky

Hankasalmen Church, located in Hankasalmi, Finland, was designed by Josef Stenbäck and built between 1889-1892. This long church with a tower at one end and cross wings on the choir side follows a neo-Gothic style. It can accommodate 1,300 people and features a 20-stop organ by J.A. Zachariassen. The church replaced an older one from 1798 and stands as the second church in the parish. The old church was dismantled after the completion of the new one.

Of course, we had to visit the Hankasalmi Church. It’s a large and beautiful building, and it holds personal meaning for us — we’ve celebrated a few confirmation ceremonies there over the years.

We strolled through the war hero graves, and the boys read the names out loud from the headstones. It made us wonder: how much longer will these resting places remain a part of churchyards?

We only share locations, where we have been exploring and visiting as a family of 10, you get very special things in our website!
