Fairview Lookout is a short hike you can do at Lake Louise if you're craving big views without a full-day trek. While most visitors stick to the lake's edge or paddle its turquoise waters, this trail offers a much quieter perspective.
The trail starts right near the Lake Louise boathouse and quickly climbs into the forest. It’s only 2 km round-trip with about 150 meters of elevation gain, which is steady and will get your legs working. From Fairview Lookout, you get a stunning view over Lake Louise, with the grand Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise perfectly framed by the turquoise water.
This trail is great for families, beginner hikers, or if you're short on time but want to get away from the crowds and see the lake from a new angle. It’s best in late spring through fall, when the trail is dry and the lake is that unreal glacier blue. It’s also a fantastic spot for photos — especially if you go early in the morning or closer to sunset when the light hits the peaks just right.
