Located about 30 minutes from Rovaniemi, the Arctic SnowHotel is rebuilt every winter from ice and snow. Inside, you’ll find ice rooms, a snow restaurant, an ice chapel, and even an ice bar — all carved with changing designs each year. The temperature stays at a constant –5°C, and guests sleep in warm sleeping bags on ice beds covered with reindeer hides.
Next to the SnowHotel are the famous Glass Igloos, available year-round. The heated glass domes let you watch the Northern Lights or midnight sun straight from your bed, with modern comforts included.
There’s also a lakeside spa with saunas, outdoor hot tubs, and traditional Finnish smoke saunas, perfect after a night in the snow hotel or a long day of exploring.
Tip: If you don’t want to sleep in the ice rooms, you can book a dinner, a sauna evening, or a Northern Lights tour and still enjoy the magical setting. The SnowHotel is open December–March, while the Glass Igloos can be booked year-round.
