Högsåra is a small island in the Kimitoön archipelago and is all about quiet village roads, cozy cafes, and sandy beaches. It’s just a short ferry ride from Svartnäs, but once you’re there, it feels like a different world.

Getting there:
The ferry to Högsåra departs from Svartnäs, which is about a 2.5-hour drive from Helsinki. The ferry ride takes around 20 minutes and is free of charge. It’s a good idea to leave your car at the Svartnäs ferry landing, as the island is best explored on foot or by bike.
Tip: Visit in late May or early June when the lilacs are in full bloom along the village roads — it’s truly a sight to behold.
