2,5 hours away from Tromsø, we find the gorgeous Blåisvatnet. Blåisvatnet is an incredibly beautiful lake with an intense color. The lake is framed by stunning mountains in the background. The parking spot is easy to find, by searching for “Blåisvatnet parking” on google maps. If you drive on the road called Ullsfjordvegen, you’ll find the parking if you take the road to Lenangsveien. The parking spot is marked with the sign “Lyngsalpan Landskapsvernområde”.

You can choose to go directly to the lake by following the path that is marked with a red painted cairn. The trip itself, is simple and is only 189 meters above sea level. The terrain is flat and quite easy to walk on, but the last part of the trip has some rocks you’ll have to climb over. This wasn’t a problem for us, even with a baby carrier on my back.

Personally, I must admit that the walk itself was boring. The terrain didn’t change the entire time, but what you get to see at the end of this trip makes it all worth it! You get to enjoy the view of the mountains on the way, but the lake isn’t revealed until the very end. The trip is about 8km both ways and takes about 2,5 hours to walk. If you want to go here on a sunny day, it’s recommended to go in the afternoon when the color of the lake is at its strongest
