I actually did this and absolutely loved it! Glacier Helicopters offer scenic flights over Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, and honestly, it’s one of the most magical ways to see the area. Flying over those massive rivers of ice, with their deep crevasses and blue glow, makes you realise just how wild and beautiful this part of the world is.

I booked the 20-minute flight with a snow landing through BookMe for $250, but they usually range between $350–$600 depending on the route and duration. There are a bunch of different flight options to choose from. I went for one that included a snow landing, and standing up there on the glacier with Aoraki/Mt Cook towering in the distance was just unreal. It’s definitely worth considering if you want to see the glaciers from a totally different perspective.
