Hanmer Springs might be a small town, but it packs a punch when it comes to fun stuff to do. It’s pretty touristy, but for good reason, the area offers a bunch of thrilling attractions for all kinds of adventurers. Here are some of the options,

Jet Boating -  Zip through the Waiau River’s narrow gorges, rapids, and braided shallows with spins and high-speed turns. It’s a fun ride for thrill seekers and families alike.

Quad Biking & Buggies - Take a 2-hour ride through alpine terrain on power-steering quad bikes or two-seat buggies. You’ll cross rivers, mud, forests, and rocky paths, a proper, rugged outdoor adventure. This is what I did, and it was super fun.

River Rafting - Enjoy a scenic Grade 2 rafting trip with some rock jumping thrown in, plus a bonus jet boat ride back. It’s a splashy, fun experience perfect for families and small groups.

Bungy Jumping - For the ultimate adrenaline rush, try bungy jumping off the historic bridge near Hanmer Springs. It’s an epic way to test your nerves and take in the stunning views.

Laser Clay Shooting & Paintball - Test your aim with outdoor laser clay shooting or get stuck into a paintball battle. Great for groups looking for some friendly competition (availability varies).

These activities are definitely on the pricey side, but honestly, it’s all worth it for the thrill and the memories you’ll make.
