Snowbird in Utah offers a full range of activities year round for the entire family. The ski and summer resort opened in 1971, offering some of the best alpine skiing and snowboarding slopes in the Rocky Mountains. During the winter, various lifts transport skiers to 2,500 acres (10.1 km2) of terrain with a 3,240 feet (988 m) vertical drop from the summit of Hidden Peak. Even after other resorts have closed down because of warmer climates, Snowbird can remain open until the Fourth of July due to its location near the Wasatch National Forest, giving guests access to plenty of powdery snow. For those not interested in winter sports, summer activities such as Alpine Slides, Mountain Coasters, Summer Tubing, Vertical Drops and Ropes Courses can be enjoyed during the summer months. It truly is a mountain paradise for all seasons!
