If you’re looking for an experience worth writing home about, Huka Falls Jet is the only company allowed to take you to the base of the mighty Huka Falls and has been crowned one of the best jet boat rides in New Zealand. 

They’ve been operating since 1990 and welcome over 50,000 people every year. It's safe to say they're experts! Their epic 30-minute jet boat ride takes you speeding down the Waikato River at 80km/h, flying past cliffs, skimming over rapids, and pulling off their signature 360-degree spins.

How to get there

Hukafalls Jet is at 200 Karetoto Road, just 10 minutes from Taupō town centre. There’s plenty of parking available. The experience costs $139 per adult and takes about an hour from start to finish. There’s no age limit, but all passengers must be at least 1 metre (39 inches) tall to ride in the boat. However, for ticket purposes, a child is 15 years old or younger.

You’ll need to arrive at least 15 minutes before your time slot. You don’t always need to book the jet boat in advance, but I recommend doing so, especially in the summer, as it’s a popular experience and can sell out fast!
