Hellfire Pass, also known as Konyu Cutting, is a historic railway cutting in Thailand that was part of the infamous Thai-Burma Death Railway built during World War II. The pass got its name from the grueling conditions and high death toll suffered by the laborers who worked on it. More than 250,000 Southeast Asian civilians and 12,000 Allied soldiers were forced to build this railway line, enduring harsh treatment and extreme hardships. Today, visitors can explore the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum to learn about the construction of the railway and pay tribute to those who lost their lives during this dark chapter in history.
