Description:
Dettifoss is often called the most powerful waterfall in Europe, with an incredible volume of water plunging 44 meters (144 ft) into Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. Located in North Iceland within Vatnajökull National Park, the falls are breathtaking to witness up close, with mist often rising high into the air. Visitors can view Dettifoss from both the east and west banks — the east side offers closer, dramatic views, while the west side provides wider panoramic perspectives. The roads can be rough, especially in winter, but the experience is unforgettable.
Price:
There is no entrance fee to visit Dettifoss. Parking is also free. Guided tours from nearby towns such as Húsavík, Mývatn, or Akureyri usually cost $100–150 USD per person, often combined with other northern highlights.
