Description:
Gjáin is a small but magical valley in South Iceland, often described as looking like something out of a fairytale. It is filled with waterfalls, lava formations, streams, and lush greenery in summer. The area is relatively hidden and less visited compared to other Golden Circle attractions, which makes it feel peaceful and untouched. Many travelers say it feels like walking into another world. The hike down into Gjáin is short but steep in some places, so good shoes are recommended. It’s especially beautiful in summer, but in winter it can be harder to access due to snow.
Price:
Visiting Gjáin is free, and parking nearby is also free. Guided tours to Þjórsárdalur Valley (which includes Gjáin, Háifoss, and Hjálparfoss) usually cost $100–150 USD per person.
