Description:
The Geysir Hot Springs area, in the Haukadalur Valley, is one of Iceland’s most famous geothermal sites. While the original “Great Geysir” is mostly dormant today, the nearby Strokkur geyser erupts every 5–10 minutes, shooting boiling water up to 30 meters (100 ft) into the air. The area is filled with steaming vents, bubbling mud pots, and hot pools, giving it a dramatic and otherworldly atmosphere. It’s an essential stop on the Golden Circle and a great place for photography, especially when capturing Strokkur mid-eruption.

Price:
Visiting Geysir is free, and parking is also free. Guided Golden Circle tours that include Geysir typically cost $80–120 USD per person.
