Description:
Jökulsárlón is Iceland’s most famous glacier lagoon, located in Vatnajökull National Park. Huge icebergs break off from Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and float across the lagoon before drifting out to sea. Seals are often seen swimming between the ice, and seabirds fly overhead. Many visitors simply enjoy the view from the shore, while boat tours take you closer to the dramatic icebergs. Right across the road is Diamond Beach, where pieces of ice wash up on the black sand shore, creating one of Iceland’s most photogenic sights.

Price:
Visiting Jökulsárlón is free, including parking. Amphibian boat tours cost around 6,000 ISK ($45 USD) per person, while zodiac boat tours (faster and closer to the ice) cost around 9,000–10,000 ISK ($65–75 USD).
