Description:
Gullfoss, meaning “Golden Falls,” is one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls and a highlight of the Golden Circle. The Hvítá River plunges in two dramatic stages, dropping a total of 32 meters (105 ft) into a rugged canyon. On sunny days, rainbows often appear in the mist, creating spectacular photo opportunities. There are several viewing platforms, including one close to the falls where you can feel the spray of the water. In winter, parts of the waterfall freeze, adding to its beauty. Gullfoss is easy to access year-round and is usually combined with Geysir and Þingvellir.

Price:
Visiting Gullfoss is free, including parking. Guided Golden Circle tours that include Gullfoss typically cost $80–120 USD per person.
