Description:
Gljúfrabúi, also called the “Canyon Dweller,” is a hidden waterfall just a short walk from Seljalandsfoss on Iceland’s South Coast. Unlike its famous neighbor, Gljúfrabúi is partly concealed behind a cliff. To see it up close, visitors must walk through a narrow opening in the rock and into a mossy canyon, where the 40-meter (131 ft) waterfall crashes down in a magical setting. Waterproof boots or shoes are recommended, as the path inside can be wet and slippery. Because it is often overlooked by tourists focused on Seljalandsfoss, Gljúfrabúi feels like a secret discovery.

Price:
Visiting Gljúfrabúi is free, and parking at the Seljalandsfoss area (which also covers Gljúfrabúi) costs about 700 ISK ($5 USD).

⚠️ Caution: The narrow entrance to the cave is extremely slippery in winter. Ice and water make the rocks hazardous — wear spikes/microspikes and move carefully.
