Description:
Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most famous and powerful waterfalls, dropping 60 meters (197 ft) in a wide curtain of water. On sunny days, rainbows often form in the mist, making it a favorite for photographers. You can view the waterfall from the base, where the sheer force of the water is overwhelming, or climb the staircase to the top for a different perspective. Skógafoss also marks the start of the popular Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail, which leads into the Highlands past dozens of smaller waterfalls. It’s an unmissable stop along the South Coast.

Price:
Visiting Skógafoss is free, and parking at the site is also free. Guided South Coast tours that include Skógafoss typically cost $100–150 USD per person.
