Description:
Dyrhólaey is a dramatic promontory on Iceland’s South Coast, just west of Vík. It is best known for its massive sea arch, towering cliffs, and sweeping views over Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach and Mýrdalsjökull Glacier in the distance. The upper viewpoint features a picturesque lighthouse and panoramic vistas, while the lower viewpoint offers closer views of the arch. In summer, Dyrhólaey is also one of the best places in Iceland to spot puffins nesting along the cliffs. Because of its height and location, it’s a popular stop for photographers at both sunrise and sunset.

Price:
Visiting Dyrhólaey is free, and parking at both viewpoints is free as well. Guided South Coast tours that include Dyrhólaey, often paired with Reynisfjara and Skógafoss, typically cost $100–150 USD per person.
