Personally, I loved exploring Granite Island Recreation Park. My sister and I woke up, had some breakfast and coffee, and walked straight over to the bridge connecting Victor Harbor to the island, it was the perfect little walk to start the day. The island offers a unique coastal experience with its massive granite boulders and stunning ocean views.

To get across to the island, you can simply walk across the bridge (which is what I did) or take a horse tram ride across the causeway if that’s your thing and you have the budget for it. Once across, the Kaiki walk is a trail that takes you on a loop around the island, this walk is a short 1.5 kilometers. Besides the beautiful views, the wildlife here is a highlight, you can spot whales from June to October as well as the resident Little Penguins, which are often seen returning to their burrows at dusk. The island is also home to various bird species, adding to its charm. This experience is free and a wonderful way to spend a few hours. My favorite little feature on the island is the cute "Penguin Crossing" signs, they are so adorable! Overall, Granite Island is a fantastic spot to explore, offering both natural beauty and a chance to connect with local wildlife.
