Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon sits right off the Ring Road on Iceland’s South Coast. Icebergs continually break off the nearby glacier and float through the lagoon toward the ocean, so you’ll see shapes and colors shift even during a single visit, it's really an incredible thing to see!
Parking is right beside the lagoon and the walk to the shoreline is very short, so you can spend just 15–30 minutes here or longer if you want to explore a bit more, watch for seals, or take photos.
While you’re here, you can take a boat tour in summer to get closer to the icebergs, but that’s optional, walking around the lagoon on your own still gives you amazing views. Just across the road is Diamond Beach, where many of the ice chunks wash up on the black sand and make for beautiful photos, so most people visit both on the same stop (you can just walk across the road so you don't have to pay for both parking lots, just watch for cars.)
*If you're driving from Vík, parking will be on the left-hand side of the road right after the bridge.
