Sveti Jakob (St Jacob) church is situated on top of a hill in the outskirts of Ljubljana. It is a popular hiking destination for locals and also popular with photographers. The trail to the church is easy with little elevation gain. Best season is Autumn because the hill has a variety of deciduous trees and winter after a fresh snowfall. You can drive all the way up to Topol pri Medvodah settlement. There is a nice parking area near Pri Vihri restaurant. If this one is full, you can park at the primary school in the village. A telephoto lens (100–400mm) works best to compress the landscape and highlight the church against the mountain backdrop, while a wider lens captures the sweeping scenery and sky.
