In the quaint village of Norðara Koyta, also known as Í Koytu, sits an ancient settlement with a name that perfectly fits its landscape – "hollow." Originally inhabited in 1584, this historic site is home to the homestead of Hanus í Koytu, a wooden house with a turfed roof that offers a glimpse into traditional Faroese living. Visitors can explore the six rooms, including a kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, filled with artifacts like shoemaking tools and planes. The Sandur Village Museum lovingly restored this charming abode, preserving a piece of local history for all to enjoy.

Opening hours:

From June 1st – September 1st:

Monday – Saturday: 12.00 – 14.00.

The museum is also open upon appointment outside of these opening hours and all year.
