Paro Taktsang, also known as the Tiger's Nest, is a sacred Buddhist site perched on a cliff in Bhutan's Paro valley. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava flew here on the back of a tigress to meditate in the 8th century. The monastery complex, built around the cave where he practiced, is a cultural icon of Bhutan and a popular pilgrimage destination. Despite a fire in 1998 that damaged the main building, restoration works have preserved this spiritual gem for visitors to explore and admire.
