Las Salinas de Calpe is one of those places where the town quietly shows off its natural side. Right in the middle of Calpe, just below the shadow of the Peñón de Ifach, this saltwater lagoon feels like a small oasis where time slows down. Over the years, it has been home to more than 170 bird species, with flamingos as the undeniable stars.

What makes it special is the mix of nature and history. These salt marshes were already exploited by the Romans and today they’re a protected wetland where you can stroll along wooden walkways and pause at small observatories to watch the birds without disturbing them. It’s calm, unexpected and a beautiful reminder that Calpe is more than beaches and nightlife.
