Ponte 25 de Abril ("April 25th Bridge") is a suspension bridge connecting Lisbon to Almada, in the district of Setúbal, on the south bank of the Tagus river. It was inaugurated in August 1966 and was originally named after Portugal's then dictator António de Oliveira Salazar. Today, it pays homage to the Carnation Revolution, which reestablished democracy in the country, precisely on April 25th, 1974.

The upper part of the bridge has six car lanes while the lower deck carries a double track railway, which were installed in 1999.

Today, the bridge has a professional climbing wall called "Escala25" in one of its pillars. It is also possible to join an elevator ride up to a panoramic viewing point on top of the bridge at pillar #7. Visitors pay 5€ to take this tour in the exterior and interior areas of this part of the bridge.

Ponte 25 de Abril is an omnipresent element of Lisbon's skyline and one can see it from virtually every viewpoint of the city.
