Plage du Trou d’Eau is one of the calmest and most family-friendly beaches on Réunion’s west coast. Sheltered by the coral reef, the water is usually flat and clear, making it ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and snorkeling. The sand is golden and soft, and the shallow lagoon stretches out just far enough to feel safe but not dull.

This isn’t a wild beach. It’s a sociable place with small cafés, ice cream trucks, and places to rent paddleboards or kayaks. Locals come early with kids and umbrellas, while others linger into sunset with cold Dodos and picnic snacks. There's natural shade under the filao trees, and the vibe is slow, sunny, and easy.

👉 Bring a mask and snorkel. Near the rocks on the right side of the beach, you’ll often spot parrotfish, sea cucumbers, and small reef fish.
