đŁïž How to Get There
Krangsuri is located near Amlarem, about 30 km from Jowai and 90â95 km from Shillong. The drive from Shillong takes roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on road conditions. The route is scenic, with winding mountain roads, views of nearby rivers, and forested sections. Once you reach the Krangsuri parking area, youâll need to walk for about 10â15 minutes down a stone paved path and steps. The walk is moderately steep in some parts but safe and well-maintained. Local staff are often around to help guide visitors.
đ What to Expect
At the base of the trail, youâll be rewarded with a spectacular view of the broad, curtain-like waterfall dropping into a stunning blue-green pool. The water here is incredibly clear, especially in the dry months, and the color often looks surreal in photos.
There are viewing platforms, a stone seating area, and even life jackets available if you want to swim or take a dip(which is allowed in designated areas). Local food stalls and basic restrooms are available near the top, making this a fairly well-managed site.
đ For the Curious
Krangsuri stands out not just for its beauty, but for how accessible and friendly it is for most travelers. You donât need to trek for hours to enjoy it, and it combines scenic value with the fun of swimming, relaxing, and easy photography. Itâs a favorite location for day trips, picnics, and short getaways from Shillong or Jowai. The area is also known for its natural richness, with nearby spots like Amlarem village and the Pynthorwah valley.
