An easy, scenic hike from the First gondola station to one of the most photogenic alpine lakes in Switzerland. On clear, calm mornings, the surrounding peaks reflect perfectly in the water.

How to get there

🚆 Train to Grindelwald, 10 min walk to First gondola station (Dorfstrasse 187)
🚗 Paid parking at Firstbahn parking

🚠 Gondola ride to First (25–30 min), then follow the wide trail towards Bachalpsee (~1h each way)

Tips

• First section is a bit steep, then mostly gentle

• Bring your own food and water — no services at the lake

• For a better photo spot, walk 10 min above the lake to a higher viewpoint

• Combine with the First Cliff Walk or other activities (zip line, mountain carts, playground at Bort) for a full day, or Faulhorn hike if you want more sport
