Storm Mountain Lodge & Cabins ⛈🏕️

This might just be my number 1 top pick for cabins/lodges in Banff! Historic hand-built lodge and cabins, originally built in 1922 (maintained and refurbished since then of course). Tucked into the forest, perfectly placed between Banff and the Kootenays. It feels like an old Rockies outpost or something.

It has big crackling fireplaces, mountain views all around, not to mention AMAZING food! No joke - if you come here, do not skip out on dinner.. an absolute 10/10!

It's the perfect spot to get an early start to trails like Boom Lake, Taylor Lake and so much more as well. If you are not a big hiker, it's also a great spot to just wake up to on quiet mornings, with a coffee on the porch, or by the fire pits outside.

🌿 Hotel Amenities

  • Free parking, nearby trails, outdoor fire pit areas, front desk with local tips.

  • There is also a small gift store at reception, as well as a small café for snacks, drinks and coffee.

  • Hand-built lodge & cabins (originally built in 1922). With fireplaces, cozy beds, and rustic interiors - No TV.

  • Wifi?: No

  • Cell Service?: No (limited if lucky)

  • Pets?: Yes – for a fee

  • Restaurant?: Yes;

-Lodge Dining Room: Locally inspired Rocky Mountain food with a fine dining experience. It's well known locally as one of the best restaurants in the area, so reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.

🧭 THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE

Stand at the Continental Divide a few minutes from the lodge. One foot in Alberta and one in British Columbia, right on the line between the Pacific and Atlantic watersheds. For more details, check out its pin on my map.
