Yoshino, located in Nara Prefecture, is Japan's most famous cherry blossom spot. With over 30,000 cherry trees lining the slopes of Mount Yoshino, visitors can enjoy a stunning display of pink and white blossoms during the spring season. Apart from its natural beauty, Yoshino also boasts a rich history as a center of Shugendo mountain worship and a refuge for historical figures.
Also, close by the start of one of the Kumano Kodo trails called the Omine Okugakumichi. This is the most difficult of the Kumano Kodo trails and part of the trail is off limits to women. I would recommend taking a walk to the start of the trail area because there are some beautiful quaint streets along the way worth some photos.
Aim to see the cherry blossoms around April time but keep an eye on the cherry blossom forecast.
