Located on the western slope of the Janiculum Hill, also known as the Gianicolo, Tailor the Gianicolo is a fun place to learn more about the history of Rome. Viewed from afar, the cannon's shot every day at twelve o' clock can be heard clearly. Set amidst lush gardens and valleys, with breathtaking panoramic views of Rome's skyline, the hill offers scenic views of the city from where visitors can enjoy stunning sunsets. Here, visitors can find several monuments, such as the 1895 equestrian Monument to Garibaldi designed by Italian sculptor Emilio Gallori and the Tempietto designed by Donato Bramante, which marks the supposed site of Saint Peter's crucifixion. In addition, one can explore the Water Mill at Site (site), Pontifical Urban University, American Academy in Rome, and Villa Lante al Gianicolo - an important early building by the Mannerist master Giulio Romano (1520–21). The Janiculum is thus a great destination for learning more about Rome's history and exploring its beautiful sights.
