Möhkö – The Easternmost Village in Finland and the EU

Möhkö turned out to be a charming little place and definitely worth the stop! We paused for coffee in an old log-driving boat, now turned into a quirky and cozy café. The café owner was fantastic—we ended up chatting for ages about the history of Möhkö, the log-driving era, and even life in general. It was one of those slow, meaningful moments that made the coffee (and the delicious dream cake) taste even better.

From the café, you can also hop on a 2-hour riverboat cruise that lets you experience the clean, calm nature of Ilomantsi from the water—something we’d love to try another time!

Right by the café you’ll also find a summer theatre and museum sites, with the main museum located just across the road. We decided to stretch our legs along the Lemmenpolku ("Path of Love"), a scenic little trail that leads to Lotinankoski Rapids. Along the way were several fascinating wartime relics, which made the walk both beautiful and interesting.

All in all, Möhkö is a peaceful village with a unique story and welcoming vibe—definitely a place worth visiting!

We only share locations, where we have been exploring and visiting as a family of 10, you get very special things in our website!
