Located deep in Kananaskis are the Mist Mountain hot springs, regarded as some of the best hot springs in Alberta. You may have seen them on social media, as they have gained popularity over the years. I prefer not to call them hot springs, as they are more accurately described as "warm."

Nonetheless, they offer a natural warm tub nestled in the mountains, and you won’t find a more scenic location. To avoid crowds, visit at sunrise during the offseason. Otherwise, you may have to wait in line for pools that accommodate only 3-4 people at a time. Please note that there are no changing facilities available at the hot springs.

If you're up for checking off a big mountain, you can scramble to the summit of Mist Mountain pre or post-soak. It's one of the tallest mountains in the front range and offers sweeping views over the range. It's a really big mountain that is best reserved for those with experience. However, the trail to the hot springs is much more approachable for most hikers.
