This little wooden bridge over the central pond in Yoyogi Park is one of those spots that makes you stop for a second—even in the middle of all the hanami buzz. During cherry blossom season, it turns into a fairytale scene. The sakura bloom wide and full here, and just behind the trees, the NTT Docomo Tower rises like it’s watching over it all.

I like to stand back and frame the bridge from across the water. You catch the reflection, the blossoms, and, if you’re lucky, a couple strolling through like they stepped out of a movie. It’s quiet enough to shoot without being in the way but still close to the liveliness of the park.

Best Time to Photograph:
Late afternoon during full bloom. The sun dips just enough to warm the blossoms with golden light, and the contrast of the nature in front of Tokyo’s modern skyline is something special. Come with a longer lens if you want that layered compression between people, trees, and the tower.
