The Hike
Distance: 8km - Duration: 2-3h - Altitude: 720m
Description
The Schoberstein hike is a short, moderately strenuous walk. Starting from the village of Weißenbach, the first part of the trail takes you through the woods, with wonderful views of the Attersee and Mondsee (both are perfect for a post-walk dip). After the forest section, the path changes slightly, often crossing rocks secured with wire ropes. These passages are not very challenging, but they do require a little head for heights. The summit is reached after about 1.5 hours, where you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views over the turquoise waters of Lake Attersee and the surrounding Salzkammergut mountains.
Good to know
You will not coma across a water fountain on the entire hiking trail. So, take plenty of water with you.
There are also no huts along the way, so I would recommend taking enough snacks to enjoy the views at the top of the mountain.
Good footwear is also essential.
