From November to December, certain parts of New Zealand burst into colour thanks to the flowering Russell lupins. These perennials, first introduced in the 1940s, transform the landscape into a rainbow of pinks, purples, blues, yellows, and oranges.
This spot along the Rees River in Glenorchy is one of the best in the area. There are usually some larger fields here which frame the surrounding mountains and river nicely. Note that the Glenorchy lupins tend to flower slightly later than their northern counterparts, so its best to visit them mid-late December.
