Here’s your guide to visiting Fantail Falls ⬇️
🥾 Trail: Just a 5-minute flat walk from the carpark—super easy and perfect for stretching your legs on the Haast Pass drive.
🅿️ Access/Parking: Signposted DOC carpark right off SH6. Can get busy in summer, but usually plenty of space.
📏 Difficulty: Very easy—short, well-formed gravel path suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
🤫 Secret Tip: Cross the shallow riverbed (only safe in low flow!) to get a full front-on view of the falls—bring sandals or waterproof shoes!
👧👦 Family-Friendly: 100%! One of the most accessible waterfalls on the West Coast, with a cool stone beach kids will love.
🦮 Dog-Friendly: No, it’s inside Mt. Aspiring National Park, so dogs aren’t allowed.
🌞 Shade: Mostly open, but there’s some shelter near the trees by the riverbank.
🚽 Facilities: None here, but toilets are available at the nearby Blue Pools.
🗑️ Leave No Trace: Don’t stack rocks in the river—Fantail Falls is stunning just as it is 💚 Pack out all rubbish and tread gently.
