Sitting in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Taranaki Falls is one of those spots that always surprises people. The loop track takes around 1.5 hours and is super easy to access, winding through native bush and volcanic landscapes with plenty of great photo stops along the way.

The trail builds nicely to the main event — Taranaki Falls spilling 20 metres into a clear pool below. If you’re heading here for photos, pack a wide-angle lens and take your time — the whole walk is full of beautiful little moments.
